History information

The Commonwealth burials in Eksaarde Communal Cemetery all date from October 1914. One grave contains the remains of five unknown British soldiers and an unknown Belgian soldier, but there is a special memorial to a man of the Royal Naval Division believed to be one of the five. Buried in the other graves are three men of the Naval Division who died of wounds.
