Location information

Sandwick Cemetery is on the outskirts of Stornoway, the main town on the Western Isles. From the centre of Stornoway take the A866 (Sandwick Road) following signs to the Airport. The cemetery is on the right hand side, beyond the council buildings, overlooking the sea. The entrance to the cemetery is opposite a large white church. From the airport, leave airport building and turn right on to the A866 (Sandwick Road) and head towards the Town Centre. The cemetery will be found half a mile down this road on the left hand side, opposite a large white church.

History information

There are 36 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-18 war, including 9 unidentified sailors of the Royal Navy. There are 24 more burials of the 1939-45 war. In addition there are 2 non-war Service burials here.
