Native of Hyde, Otago. Son of the late Laurence and Johanna Mathewson, of Otago; husband of Effie Mary Forster Mathewson (nee Morgan), of 60, Grosvenor St., Kensington, Dunedin. Left New Zealand in 1914 as a member of the Veterinary Corps. Also served in Egypt.
