Location information

The cemetery is located behind the Hindu Temple at 1B Wong Nei Chong Road, on the opposite side from the Happy Valley Racecourse. Climb the stairs past the Hindu Temple and continue to the top terrace of the burial ground, where the large granite obelisk memorial can be found.

Please be aware that the Memorial is located within a very small cemetery, containing less than thirty graves. Visitors are required to contact ‘The Hindu Association’ in Hong Kong via email, a few days prior to their visit. Their full contact details are:

History information

Throughout the First World War, Hong Kong was garrisoned by local defence and Commonwealth forces, including units of Indian infantry.

This memorial takes the form of a white granite obelisk bearing the names of eight Indian soldiers whose remains were cremated in accordance with their religion.
