History information
This cemetery, belonging to the Corporation, is in the centre of the city. It was opened in 1856. There are 227 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-1918 war and 45 of the 1939-1945 war commemorated here. There is a War plot, with 69 burials, in which the names of the dead are recorded on a Screen Wall curb, and the remainder are scattered throughout the cemetery. Fifty of the graves are those of officers and men of the King's Liverpools.
