Location information

The site is adjacent to the Lidzbark Warminski town border from north-east, it is located in Markajmy suburb, approx. 300 m to the right (south-east) of road 51. Access from Lidzbark Warmiński centre: take road 51 towards Bartoszyce, turn right 300 metres after the Lidzbark Warminski Stadium and 50 metres after passing the inn named Uluru on your left hand side. From here, follow the signs to the cemetery.

Visiting information

Please note that this cemetery is located in Lidzbark Warminski and NOT Lidzbark. Lidzbark is another town in the same province, but the two towns are 150 km away from each other.

ARRIVAL

Routes to the cemetery from the town are signposted.

PARKING

There is a car park at the front of the cemetery, close to the main entrance to the civilian cemetery. There are spaces for numerous vehicles.

ACCESS, LAYOUT AND MAIN ENTRANCE

The cemetery is a rectangular shape.

The main entrance is through a low-level wooden gate, under a wooden archway at the top of stone steps.

The width of the entrance is 1.5 metres.

There are two separate sets of steps with a flat platform at the middle or halfway point.

All the internal and external paths are on uneven ground, with steps that are not maintained.

Ground surfaces are rocky with steep areas, loose rock and stone steps scattered around on the route to the CWGC (Commonwealth War Graves Commission) plot. The plot is located at the rear of the civilian cemetery with no clear level pathways to the plot.

A Cross of Sacrifice stands near the centre of the cemetery. It is raised up on a small mound of ground with stone steps leading up. Uneven ground leads from the plot to the steps.

There is no Register Box in the cemetery.

There are no seating areas in the cemetery.

The internal paths of the cemetery are grass and surrounded by a gravel pathway with timber edging.

ALTERNATIVE ACCESS

An alternative access point is on the right-hand side when standing at the main entrance.

There is a steep slope uphill to navigate to access the additional entrance.

The gate is low level and approximately 1.5 metres wide.
