Location information

Vitry-le-Francois is a major town in the department of Marne, 33 kilometres south-east of Chalon-en-Champagne. The French Military Cemetery is an extension of the Communal Cemetery, and its entrance is on Rue des Cypres. It is well signposted from the centre of the town. The cemetery contains 7 Commonwealth war graves. The Commonwealth War Graves Plot is in the south west part of the cemetery, and Private Malcolm's grave is at the south end of the cemetery between large trees.

History information

The cemetery contains the graves of over 4,000 French soldiers (of whom, 2,250 are unidentified). The six graves in the Commonwealth War Graves Plot came from Vitry le Francois Military Cemetery No.2 and Pte. Malcolm's grave came from Contrisson French Military Cemetery.
