CWGC Archive to reopen to the public

Starting in September, the CWGC Archive and reading room will reopen to researchers.

Our archive, which contains nearly 50,000 items from the Commission’s past including personal correspondence, maintenance and tour reports, staff records, photographs, and architectural plans, will be open on limited days and with reduced spaces in line with current Covid restrictions.

We are offering the following dates for research visits, between the hours 10.00am and 4.00 pm:

To book your appointment, please email visitarchives@cwgc.org with your preferred dates. A member of our team will get back to you to confirm your booking. Please do not visit the archive without a booking confirmation.

As we are not yet operating at full capacity, we will be limiting file orders to no more than 10 items from the archive collection per person per visit, and these items will need to be ordered in advance.

We are excited to be able to welcome visitors back to our archive, but as we continue to follow government guidelines there may be times when we have to cancel booked visits at short notice in order to comply with regulations. We will do our utmost to inform you in advance should this be the case, but it is also strongly advised that you contact the archive team in advance on the day of your visit to confirm that the archive is open.

We very much look forward to welcoming you back to our archive in September and October.
