Historical Cases of Non-Commemoration - Progress Report Number Eight

The CWGC’s Non Commemoration Programme continues its work to find forgotten burial sites, create meaningful memorials and record all the names of those who died in the First World War – we work in partnership between countries to right historical wrongs and commemorate everyone.

Our latest progress report summarises achievements of the past three months as we continue this vitally important work. The image above shows a new collaborative project with the Kenya Defence Force to digitise service records for the King’s African Rifles, thought previously to be lost.

These records include those who fought and died during the First World War. Progress also continues for the construction of memorials planned in Sierra Leone and South Africa in 2024.
