Location information

Meerut is located about 85 kilometres north-east of New Delhi, and takes approximately 3 hours to reach by road from New Delhi, or 90 minutes by train. The cemetery, which is also known as St. John’s Cemetery, is located in Lekha Nagar. Nearby landmarks are St John’s Church, and the circular road junction known locally as ‘Kranti Chowk’. The Cemetery is available on Google maps as “St John’s Cemetery” or “CWGC Cantonment Cemetery Meerut”. The cemetery entrance is on the east side near an overhead water tank.

Visiting information

The CWGC graves are located in different plots of the cemetery. As you enter the cemetery from the main entrance, Plots 1 to 5 are on the right side, with Plot 1 nearest the entrance and Plot 5 to the far right. Plots 6, 7 and the RC Plot are all to the left of the central avenue, with Plot 6 to the far left, and then returning towards the Entrance, Plot 7 followed by the RC Plot.

All the CWGC graves have a steel tag marked ‘CWGC’ behind the grave marker.

The Commission has been informed that local authorities are introducing new regulations regarding visiting restrictions for this site as it is in a military cantonment area.
