Book a talk

Would you like to know more about the work of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission? We offer a range of highly engaging and informative talks for schools and groups which are all adapted for different audiences and delivered at a time and place to suit you.

You can book a CWGC speaker to visit your school, groups or organisation. We are also able to offer virtual talks. Please indicate on your booking form if you would like this option and we will contact you to discuss this further.

We offer the following talks

This presentation is about the history of the CWGC and its work today. The presentation starts with how the Commission began, its work during the First and Second World Wars and concludes with its work today in maintaining and preserving our historic estate around the World. The presentation will also focus on the war graves in your local area and tell the stories of some of those we commemorate.

This presentation looks at how our plots and graves are enhanced by our horticulture, looking at the early influences on their design and the challenges we face now with climate change. Our horticulture design and maintenance is influenced by the climate and the different circumstances of our cemeteries around the world.

This presentation looks at CWGC’s architecture, in terms of its cemetery layouts, structures and memorials. It highlights the key architects from the First and Second World Wars and looks at how we conserve our structures today, some of which are over a century old. The CWGC has a global estate and our structures are effected by the different environmental circumstances in different countries.

This presentation looks at the CWGC Archives, and explores both our Casualty Archive and the Commission Archive. It explains how you can research casualties and explains what we record. It will explain how to access the Commission Archives both in person and digitally and highlights some of the documents contained there, explaining their historical significance.

If this is your first talk from the CWGC we recommend that you select The CWGC talk as this looks at the other topics in general and also covers the war graves in your area.  The other talks are a good follow on if you have already had the CWGC talk.

Our talks are free but we ask for donations from groups if they feel able to support our work.

We don’t want to exclude any group from accessing a talk and particularly encourage schools and youth organisations to access our talks for free.

If you would like to make a suggested donation of £50 or find out more about Membership in the CWGF, find more information here

Please email public.engagement@cwgc.org if you are interested in finding out more about our talks or book a talk today.
